Stea Association’s Presentation

Our vision

A better world through education and empowerment is the vision that guides our commitment to be the spark that initiates the changes that we want to see around us.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote the social inclusion of marginalized communities by contributing in particular to the defense of the rights of vulnerable children and young people. Stea fights against poverty and the exploitation of marginalized populations by supporting them in strengthening their autonomy through access to education, empowerment and employment.

Our Shared Values and Principles

Our actions are guided by educative and development principles which revolve around the following principle: Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime”.

Our actions are based on the following values:

Inclusion

Inclusion is a core value that guides our beliefs and actions within our organization. Contributing to the creation of an inclusive society is one of our major advocacy goal.

Non-discrimination and equality

We believe that everyone deserves respect and equal treatment regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, cultural background, or religious beliefs. The guiding principle of our actions is that all people should benefit from equal opportunities regarding access to social services and equal treatment by eliminating any forms of discrimination.

Human dignity

We believe that every individual must be guaranteed the harmonious development of their personality. We strive to empower people that we work with to live their lives with dignity. We believe that each person has the right to be an integral part of its local community, while retaining their independence and individuality.

Partnership and involvement

We believe that people we are working with are our partners. We believe in the capacity of every human being to evolve under appropriate conditions. We strive to encourage and empower people that we are working with to actively participate in planning and decision making with respect of interventions that have effects on them and their environment. We commit to respects and promote their right to self-determination.

Professionalism and quality of services

The professionalism and the focus on providing quality services and interventions is one of the essential values of Stea. We strive to increase our ability to deliver evidence based and effective social services, responding to target groups’ needs and generating powerful impact towards social inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized populations.

The work of the Stea is based on the orientation towards ensuring the highest quality social services, starting from the professionalism with which all the employees and volunteers carry out their activity and the continuous concern towards improving the quality of our services.

The mandatory norms of conduct for all employees and volunteers of Stea include: integrity, justice and fairness, honesty, responsibility, transparency, equidistance and morality.

Transparency and accountability

We are committed to ensuring fiscal responsibility that maintains its focus on accountability, transparency, service excellence and continuing to source innovative solutions to fulfill our mission. We are accountable to our beneficiaries, partners and donors to use both our financial and human resources in the best possible way.

Active citizenship and solidarity

We believe that it is crucial for individuals to have a pro-active role in the society. The challenges faced by our communities can effectively be addressed only by collective efforts of stakeholders, acting in coordinated ways toward common goals. We promote active citizenship and volunteering as a mean to encourage people getting involved in their communities. We cherish solidarity that enables us to be more connected, coordinated and powerful in making the changes towards a more inclusive society.
